Christopher Townson, from the Nature Publishing Group, has just released a Java client for their Connotea service, a free online reference management for researchers, clinicians and scientists.

The client was developed using the Restlet framework and is available under a GPL 3.0 license on this Web site.

Connotea

Chris has given us a some very positive feed-back :

“Restlet really has been wonderful to work with on this project and has greatly eased and sped development. I’m looking forward to finding other projects where it would be well-suited!

Restlet is amongst the most interesting and exciting projects I’m aware of in the Java world currently and I would be delighted to recommend it to anyone.”

It’s exciting and motivating to see the usage of Restlet increasing beyond purely technological domains. The “RESTful Web Service” book has greatly helped bringing more attention to the project, facilitating the first steps of new developers, but there is still a lot more that we need to do in term of user documentation.
